Calculator (GNOME)
The calculator that comes with Ubuntu and Fedora. Standard, scientific, programmer and conversion modes.
Our verdict
Calculator is the app that sits in the applications menu on Ubuntu and Fedora and does what the Windows calculator does. Standard mode for sums, Advanced mode for trigonometry and logarithms, Programming mode for binary and hex, and a conversion mode for units and currencies.
The one genuine gap is graphing. Windows added a graphing mode to its calculator and this has no equivalent, so if you plot functions for schoolwork you will want GeoGebra in a browser instead.
On KDE systems the equivalent is called KCalc and covers the same ground. Neither needs installing.
