Privacy
There are no accounts, no advertising and no cookies. We do measure how the site is used, with analytics we run ourselves, and that includes recording how visitors move around a page. This page explains exactly what that means.
Analytics, including session recording
The site loads two scripts from analytics.betatasters.com. That server is ours, not a third party's, so this information is not sold, shared or handed to an advertising network.
The first script counts visits. It records things like the page you viewed, the page you arrived from, your rough location by country, your browser and whether you are on a phone or a desktop. It does not set cookies and does not follow you to other websites.
The second script is a session recorder. It captures how a page was used: pointer movement, scrolling, clicks and which elements were interacted with, so a visit can be replayed as a diagram of what happened. This is a more detailed record than a visit count, which is why it has its own paragraph rather than being folded into the one above. It exists so we can see where people get stuck, for example whether the app lookup box is being found and used.
One page deserves its own mention. Find my Linux asks about your computer and the apps you rely on. Those answers are never submitted to us as a form, and the recommendation is worked out in your browser. The session recorder runs there as it does everywhere else, though, so a recording of that page can include the answers you chose or typed. It still isn't tied to a name or an account.
We do not ask for your name, your email address or any account, so nothing recorded is tied to an identity by us. Recordings are kept on our own server and are used to improve the site.
If you would rather not be recorded
Any content blocker or privacy-focused browser that blocks analytics scripts will block these, and the site works exactly the same without them. Nothing on this site is withheld from people who block them.
The contact form
The contact form is handled by Formspree, which passes your message and your email address to us. We use your address to reply and for nothing else. Their privacy policy covers what they do while handling it.
Hosting
The pages are served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes each request, which includes your IP address, the page asked for and the browser you are using, so that it can deliver the page and block abuse. What we see from Cloudflare is totals, such as how many requests were served and from which countries. Cloudflare's privacy policy covers what it does with that information.
What stays in your browser
The app lookup box works entirely in your browser. What you type into it is not sent to us, and it is not part of any recording we can read back as text. Fonts and images are served from this site, so no request goes to Google or any other outside company for them.
Links to other sites
Pages link out to the software they describe, to app stores such as Flathub, and to the sources behind each fact. Once you follow a link you are on somebody else's site, under their privacy policy.
Questions, or a request to delete something
Ask through the contact form. If you want a recording of your visit deleted, say roughly when you visited and we will remove it.
