Does Apex Legends run on Linux?
Verdict: No
No. Apex Legends uses Easy Anti-Cheat and Hyperion, and its maker has declined to let it work on Linux, so you cannot play it there. There is no safe workaround.
Apex Legends used to work on Linux. Support was switched on shortly after the Steam Deck arrived in 2022, then EA turned it off on 31 October 2024, and players who had been using it were locked out from that day.
EA gave cheating as the reason. It said it had identified Linux as a path for a variety of impactful exploits and cheats, and that Linux cheats are harder to detect and growing faster than the size of the platform justified. Launching the game on Linux now produces an anti-cheat error and closes.
There is nothing to try on your side. If Apex is a game you play often, keep a Windows installation for it.
Apex Legends is an action and adventure game from Respawn, published by Electronic Arts, first released on 4 November 2020.
It is played co-operatively. Steam lists it as fully playable with a controller. Critics scored it 88 out of 100 on Metacritic. It is free to play.

What you can do
No version of Linux and no setting can fix this, because the block is on the game's side. Trying to get around anti-cheat can also put your account at risk. If this is a game you play often, keep Windows on that PC, or install Linux beside Windows and restart into Windows to play.
