No. Affinity runs on Windows and Mac only, and the free relaunched version added no Linux download. Inkscape is the free replacement for vector drawing, and it cannot open your .afdesign files.
Affinity Designer by Canva · Design, CAD & 3D · No way to run it
Canva relaunched Affinity as one free app that covers vector drawing, photo editing and page layout together. The
download page lists Windows and Mac. An iPad version is on the way. Linux is not offered, and there is no browser
version to fall back on.
For vector work the replacement is Inkscape. It draws paths, shapes and text, handles layers, and exports to SVG,
PDF, EPS and PNG. It is free and installs from your Linux system's app store. Coming from Affinity Designer it
feels less tidy and the pen tool behaves differently, but everything you need is there.
If your work is closer to page layout, brochures, newsletters and multi-page documents, look at Scribus instead.
Penpot is worth a look if you design app and website screens and want something that runs in a browser.
Export before you switch. The .afdesign format opens in nothing else. Save each piece you care about as SVG or PDF
to keep it editable, and as a PNG for the finished version. Do that while you still have the Windows machine.
Runs in a browser and is aimed at website and app screen design rather than illustration or print.
Your files: Cannot open Affinity files. Imports SVG, and exports SVG, PDF and PNG.
This doesn't have to stop you
One stubborn program doesn't have to decide the whole question. You can keep Windows on the same PC and restart into it only when you need Affinity Designer. Everything else you do can move.
