Does Brave run on Linux?

Verdict: Yes

Yes. Brave builds and supports Linux versions itself, with official packages for Ubuntu, Mint, Debian, Fedora, openSUSE and others.

Brave by Brave Software · Web browsers · Has a Linux version

Brave lists Linux as a supported platform and keeps its own software sources for the main distributions, so once it is installed it updates along with the rest of your system. Ready-made .deb and .rpm installer files are also published.

It is the same browser. Sign in to Brave Sync, or import from your old browser on first run, and bookmarks, passwords and settings come across. The ad and tracker blocking, Brave Search and the rewards system all behave as they do on Windows.

Brave does publish Flatpak and Snap versions, but says they do not work as well as its own packages, so prefer the ones from Brave's Linux page.

Setting up Brave's software source is usually done by typing a command, which most beginner guides will walk you through. If you would rather never touch a terminal, your system's app store may offer the Flatpak version instead, with the caveat above.
