No. Maxon states that Cinema 4D runs on Windows and macOS, with an iPad version coming. There is no Linux version and no supported way to install one.
Cinema 4D by Maxon · Design, CAD & 3D · No way to run it
Maxon's Cinema 4D page says plainly that the software runs on Windows, including Windows on ARM, and on
macOS, and that an iPad version is planned for late 2026. Linux is not mentioned anywhere on it. The
licence you pay for does not include a Linux build, so there is nothing to download.
Blender is where most people land. It is free, it has a proper Linux version, and it covers modelling,
animation, simulation and rendering, which is the same ground Cinema 4D covers. Be realistic about the
changeover though. Cinema 4D is known for being pleasant to learn and Blender is known for the opposite, so
budget weeks rather than an afternoon, particularly if MoGraph was central to your work.
Your scene files are the hard part. A .c4d file is Maxon's own format and Blender does not open it. While
you still have Windows, export the projects that matter in an exchange format such as FBX or Alembic, or
the newer USD, and export your textures separately. Models, basic materials and baked animation usually
survive. Procedural setups, scene-specific shaders and render settings do not, and will need rebuilding.
If you have paid work depending on Cinema 4D, the honest advice is to keep a Windows machine or a Windows
installation alongside Linux until the rebuild is done, rather than switching everything at once.
Free, open source and fully supported on Linux. It does the same range of work but the interface and the habits are different, and MoGraph style motion tools have to be rebuilt with geometry nodes.
Your files: Cannot open .c4d files. Imports FBX, Alembic, OBJ and USD exports, with materials and effects usually needing repair.
This doesn't have to stop you
One stubborn program doesn't have to decide the whole question. You can keep Windows on the same PC and restart into it only when you need Cinema 4D. Everything else you do can move.
