Does DuckDuckGo Browser run on Linux?

Verdict: No

No. DuckDuckGo says its browser is available on Windows, Mac, Android and iPhone, and there is no Linux version. The DuckDuckGo search engine still works in any browser on Linux.

DuckDuckGo Browser by DuckDuckGo · Web browsers · No way to run it

DuckDuckGo's own browser page lists four platforms and Linux is not among them. There is no installer file, and running a browser through a Windows compatibility layer is not something worth attempting, so treat this as a clean no.

The important thing is that the search engine and the browser are separate. Everything you liked about DuckDuckGo searches works on Linux immediately: set duckduckgo.com as the default search engine in Firefox or any other browser and you are done. Nothing is lost there.

The browser's other selling point is tracker blocking turned on by default. Firefox does this out of the box and LibreWolf pushes it further, both with official Linux builds. Brave covers the same ground if you prefer something built on Chromium.

Your bookmarks and passwords are the only things to move. Export them from the DuckDuckGo browser on Windows before you switch, then import the file into whichever browser you choose.

One stubborn program doesn't have to decide the whole question. You can keep Windows on the same PC and restart into it only when you need DuckDuckGo Browser. Everything else you do can move.
