Does Fortnite run on Linux?

Verdict: No

No. Fortnite's anti-cheat is switched off for Linux by Epic's own choice, so the game refuses to start. There is no workaround, and trying one risks your account.

Fortnite by Epic Games · Gaming · No way to run it

Fortnite uses Easy Anti-Cheat, which is owned by Epic itself. Easy Anti-Cheat has been able to support Linux since 2022, and enabling it is a switch the publisher flips. Epic has chosen not to flip it for Fortnite. The Are We Anti-Cheat Yet project, which tracks exactly this, lists Fortnite as denied. Earlier experiments with other anti-cheat systems were removed and the position has not changed.

This is not a technical problem you can solve. The game itself would run on Linux perfectly well. It is a decision, and Epic's stated reasoning is that it is not confident it can police cheating on Linux. Anything you read online promising a way round anti-cheat is either out of date or a route to getting your account banned, which would cost you everything you have bought.

If Fortnite is the one thing keeping you on Windows, the realistic options are to keep Windows on a second drive and start it up when you want to play, or to play on a console, phone or tablet instead, where your account and your purchases are exactly the same.

Your account, skins and V-Bucks are safe and unaffected. Nothing is stored locally that you need to protect.

This doesn't have to stop you

One stubborn program doesn't have to decide the whole question. You can keep Windows on the same PC and restart into it only when you need Fortnite. Everything else you do can move.
