Does Norton 360 run on Linux?

Verdict: No

No. Norton 360 supports Windows, Mac, Android and iOS only, and Linux appears nowhere in its system requirements. Linux desktops are not generally run with antivirus.

Norton 360 by Gen Digital · Security & passwords · No way to run it

Norton's own system requirements page lists Windows, macOS, Android and iOS. Linux is not mentioned for any version of Norton 360, and your licence will not install on a Linux machine.

The reason nobody sells a Norton for Linux desktops is that the threat it was built for barely exists there. Almost every piece of malware a home user meets is a Windows program, and Windows programs do not run on Linux. Software also arrives from your system's app store rather than from download sites, and everything on the machine updates from that one place, which closes off the usual routes in.

That is not the same as being safe from everything. A scam email, a fake login page and a password reused in twenty places all work exactly as well against you on Linux. Those are the risks worth spending your attention on, and none of them is solved by antivirus.

Norton 360 was more than a virus scanner though, and the extra pieces need replacing separately. The VPN, the password manager and the cloud backup all have Linux equivalents. The dark web monitoring and identity theft cover you paid for are a service rather than software, so check with Norton whether your subscription still covers you when the device it was installed on has gone.

Do not leave the basics undone. Keep the system updated when it prompts you, use different passwords for everything, and be as suspicious of emails as you were before. That is where the actual risk sits.
