Does PCSX2 run on Linux?

Verdict: Yes

Yes. PCSX2 supports Windows, Linux and Mac according to the project itself, and there is a Flatpak on Flathub, so your PlayStation 2 library and saves come with you.

PCSX2 by PCSX2 Team · Gaming · Has a Linux version

PCSX2 is an officially cross-platform emulator. The project's own repository states that it supports Windows, Linux and Mac, and the Linux build is available from Flathub as well as directly from the project.

Your existing setup transfers. Memory card files, save states, per-game settings and the games themselves are all ordinary files in folders you can copy from the Windows machine. There is no conversion and no re-setup beyond pointing PCSX2 at the folders once.

The one requirement that trips people up is the same on both systems. PCSX2 needs a copy of the PlayStation 2 start-up software taken from a console you own, and the project is explicit that it does not provide one. If PCSX2 was already working on Windows you have that file and it moves across with everything else.

The Flathub listing is not marked as verified by the PCSX2 team, so if you prefer, take the build straight from the project. Performance and game compatibility are much the same on either system, and a slower computer will struggle with demanding titles either way.
