Does VALORANT run on Linux?
Verdict: No
No. Riot's Vanguard anti-cheat blocks Linux completely. Are We Anti-Cheat Yet lists VALORANT as Denied, with Riot saying Linux has too much attack surface.
This is one of the clearest no answers on the site. Vanguard runs at the deepest level of Windows and checks the system it is running on. It will not start on Linux, and this is a deliberate decision rather than a bug waiting to be fixed. Riot's stated reason is that Linux gives cheaters too much room.
Nothing gets around it. Wine, Proton, Lutris and Bottles all fail here, because the problem is not running the game, it is that the anti-cheat refuses to let it start. Trying to force it risks your account.
Riot do publish VALORANT for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S as well as PC, with progression and inventory shared across them. If you have a console, that is the real answer, and your skins and rank come with you.
Otherwise it is a Windows machine or a Windows drive you boot into for this one game. That is worth knowing before you wipe the disk rather than after.
This doesn't have to stop you
One stubborn program doesn't have to decide the whole question. You can keep Windows on the same PC and restart into it only when you need VALORANT. Everything else you do can move.
