Does Windows Terminal run on Linux?
Verdict: No
No, and you do not need it. Windows Terminal is a Windows program, but every Linux desktop already comes with a terminal app that does the same job.
Windows Terminal exists because Windows did not have a good terminal window. Microsoft describe it as a host application for the shells you already use, with tabs, split panes, Unicode support, colour schemes and custom shortcuts. It is only made for Windows.
Linux has never had that gap. Whichever system you install, a terminal is already there in the applications menu, and it has tabs, split panes, colour schemes, adjustable fonts and keyboard shortcuts as standard. The Gnome desktop calls it Console or Terminal, KDE calls it Konsole, and there are several others you can install if you want something different.
The part of Windows Terminal that gives you a Linux shell is not needed either, because the shell on a Linux machine is the real one rather than one running inside Windows.
Your habits carry over more than you expect. If you used PowerShell in Windows Terminal, PowerShell itself has an official Linux version that you can open in your Linux terminal.
This doesn't have to stop you
One stubborn program doesn't have to decide the whole question. You can keep Windows on the same PC and restart into it only when you need Windows Terminal. Everything else you do can move.
