Does XnView run on Linux?

Verdict: Yes

Yes. The current version, XnView MP, is made for Windows, Mac and Linux by the same developer. Only the older XnView Classic is Windows only, and MP replaces it.

XnView by XnSoft · Photos & graphics · Has a Linux version

XnSoft splits the product in two. XnView Classic is the old Windows-only version and is no longer the one the site recommends. XnView MP is the current release and its supported systems include Linux alongside Windows 7, 10 and 11 and macOS.

So this is one of the easier moves. Install XnView MP from your Linux system's app store and you get the program you already know, with the same folder browser, the same batch convert and batch rename, and the same long list of supported formats including camera RAW, PSD, HEIC, WEBP and PDF.

The licence terms are the same as on Windows too. It stays free for private and educational use, and a company has to buy a licence. There is nothing to sign in to.

Your pictures need no preparation. XnView reads files where they sit rather than importing them into a library, so copy your folders across and point it at them.
