Heroic Games Launcher
A free launcher for your Epic Games, GOG and Amazon Games libraries on Linux.
Our verdict
Heroic fills the hole left by Epic, GOG and Amazon, none of which ship a Linux launcher. You sign in with your normal store account and your purchased games appear ready to install.
Windows games are run through Wine, a compatibility layer that lets Windows programs run on Linux, and Heroic picks sensible defaults so most single-player titles just start. Free weekly Epic giveaways can be claimed from inside the app.
What is missing is the polish of the official launchers, and anything that depends on their anti-cheat services. Treat it as a very good replacement for the Epic and GOG apps for single-player gaming, and check multiplayer titles individually before relying on it.
What's good
- Covers the three stores that have no Linux app of their own
- Looks and behaves like a normal game launcher, with a library grid and a download queue
- No ads and no tracking turned on by default
What to know first
- Cannot fix games whose anti-cheat blocks Linux
- Cloud saves and store extras sometimes lag behind the official Windows launchers
- You still deal with Wine settings when a stubborn game will not start
