HomeBank
Simple household budgeting with charts, no accounting knowledge required.
Our verdict
HomeBank is the one to try first if you just want to know where your money goes. It skips double-entry bookkeeping entirely, so an account is simply a list of what came in and what went out.
Setup is quick. Create an account, import a CSV or OFX file from internet banking, sort transactions into categories, and the reports fill themselves in. Budgets and scheduled bills are there when you want them.
It replaces the household side of Quicken or Microsoft Money. It will not do invoices, GST returns or payroll, and it cannot connect to your bank automatically. For a small business, look at GnuCash or KMyMoney instead.
