Does Adobe Acrobat run on Linux?

Verdict: Partly

Partly. Adobe stopped making Acrobat and Acrobat Reader for Linux years ago, but Adobe's own Acrobat website does the common jobs in a browser, and Linux comes with capable PDF tools already.

Adobe Acrobat by Adobe · Notes & PDFs · Works in a browser

There is no current Acrobat or Acrobat Reader you can install on Linux. Adobe's browser tools are the official route and they cover more than people expect: reading, filling and signing forms, converting to and from Word, Excel and PowerPoint, merging, splitting, rotating and reordering pages, compressing, password protection and requesting signatures from other people. Some tools are free and the heavier ones need a subscription.

For everyday reading you do not need Adobe at all. Every mainstream Linux desktop ships a PDF reader, and Okular is the one worth installing if yours is basic. It opens PDFs quickly, fills in forms, and lets you highlight and add sticky notes that other PDF readers can see.

The two gaps are digital certificate signing of the strict legal kind, and very complex interactive forms built in Acrobat. Those sometimes only behave properly in Acrobat itself, in which case the browser tools are your fallback.

Your PDFs are ordinary files and open everywhere. Nothing needs converting and nothing is lost.
