Does Asana run on Linux?

Verdict: Yes

Yes, through your browser. Asana is a website first, so it works normally in Firefox or Chrome on Linux. The only apps Asana publishes are for iPhone, iPad and Android, not Linux.

Asana by Asana · Business & accounting · Works in a browser

Asana is used in a browser. That was true on Windows too, so for most people nothing at all changes on Linux. You open asana.com, sign in, and your projects, tasks and notifications look exactly as they did.

Asana's apps page offers only the mobile apps for iPhone, iPad and Android, described as a way to keep up with work while you are out. There is no Linux desktop app, and there is nothing you are missing by not having one, because the desktop experience is the website.

If you liked having Asana in its own window rather than in a browser tab, both Chrome and Edge on Linux can install a website as what looks like a separate app, with its own icon and its own window. It is the same website underneath but it sits in your app list like any other program.

Your data stays where it is, on Asana's servers, so there is no export or import to plan. The only thing to check before you wipe Windows is that you can still get the sign-in codes if you use two-factor authentication.

A personal task app for Linux rather than a team one. Fine if Asana was mostly your own to-do list, no use if your team lives in it.

Your files: No Asana import. You would retype or paste your tasks.

Nextcloud

If you want to move off Asana entirely, Nextcloud with its Deck boards gives a small team shared task boards on storage you control.

Your files: No Asana import. Tasks exported from Asana as CSV have to be recreated by hand.
