Does CrystalDiskInfo run on Linux?

Verdict: No

No. CrystalDiskInfo is made for Windows only. Linux reads the same drive health information through the Disks app that is already installed, so you are not losing the ability, only the app.

CrystalDiskInfo by Crystal Dew World · Utilities · No way to run it

Crystal Dew World lists CrystalDiskInfo for Windows XP through Windows 11 and the Windows Server versions. There is no Linux build.

The information itself is not a Windows thing. Drives keep their own record of errors, reallocated sectors, temperature and hours powered on, and any operating system can ask for it. On Ubuntu, Fedora and Linux Mint the Disks app is already installed and has a health check in its menu that shows exactly that record, along with the drive's own verdict on whether it is healthy.

Two things are genuinely worse. CrystalDiskInfo gives you a big green or yellow banner summing the whole thing up, where Disks shows the raw attribute names and leaves more of the reading to you. And CrystalDiskInfo can sit in the tray and warn you when a value starts drifting, which Disks does not do at all.

If you were relying on those warnings, set yourself a reminder to open Disks every month or two instead.

GNOME Disks

Already installed on most beginner systems. Same drive health record, presented as raw attributes rather than a simple banner, and with no background warnings.

Different way of workingFree

For live disk activity rather than health. Useful if what you actually watched was whether the drive was busy.

This doesn't have to stop you

One stubborn program doesn't have to decide the whole question. You can keep Windows on the same PC and restart into it only when you need CrystalDiskInfo. Everything else you do can move.
