Lollypop
Modern music player for your own song files, with artwork, lyrics and party mode.
Our verdict
Lollypop is a music player for a folder full of songs. Point it at the music you copied across from Windows and it builds a library with album covers.
It suits someone who wants the collection to look good and play, rather than someone who spends evenings correcting tags. Lyrics and artwork come down automatically, and party mode will keep playing without input.
Coming from MusicBee you will miss some of the deeper library and tagging tools. If that is the part you cared about, Strawberry is the better match, and Lollypop is the better match if you mostly just want to press play.
What's good
- Looks current rather than dated, with large album artwork
- Fetches artwork and lyrics for your own files
- Party mode keeps music going without you picking each track
- Free, no account, no subscription
What to know first
- Built for your own song files, not for streaming services
- Fewer library tools than MusicBee, and no equivalent of its auto-tagging depth
