Strawberry
Music player and collection organiser for people with large local libraries, with tag editing and artwork lookup.
Our verdict
Strawberry is the music app for people who own their music. If you moved across from Windows with a drive full of albums ripped over twenty years, this is the one that will make sense of them.
The tag editor and artwork lookup are the reason to choose it. Point it at a folder of badly named files and it will pull correct track, album and artist details and fetch cover art. Lossless formats are handled properly, and it can scrobble your listening if you use a service for that.
The first launch looks busier than Rhythmbox and there is more to configure. If all you want is to press play on a tidy folder, Rhythmbox is simpler. If tidying the collection is half the pleasure, start here.
